The St. Catherine&8217s Church and Abbey were founded in 1228 by Dominican friars and is one of Denmark&8217s best preserved abbeys. Ribe&8217s City Council dates from 1496. The magnificent Cathedral lies in the centre of the historic town. The museum in Esbjerg, Fiskeri- og Søfartsmuseet, shows the old street and town environment and also holds an amber museum. If you are interested in fishing, the Fiskeri- og Søfartsmuseet has a fine collection of fishing tools, ships and vessels.
