When you go for a walk in Sønderho, you can enjoy the sight and atmosphere of the old, well-preserved buildings, which mainly date from the 19th century. In the 1800s, Sønderho was the dominant maritime town on Jutlands West Coast. Fanøs 15 km long, white sandy beach is one of the best beaches in northern Europe and it is not uncommon to find a few good pieces of amber on the beach. It is allowed to take the car on the beach and drive between Sønderho in the south and to Fanø Bad in the north. In Fanøs largest city, Nordby, you can experience a walk through the citys old narrow streets, where the thatched Fanø houses with their beautiful gardens lie side by side with cozy cafes, exciting shops and galleries.
